Concrete Laser Flooring installed 8000m2 of internal concrete flooring and 12 200m2 of concrete hardstand at Courier Guy’s new distribution centre in Cape Town, saving time and achieving FM2 flatness.
Industrial concrete flooring experts, Concrete Laser Flooring (CLF) were awarded the contract to supply and place the concrete floors at the new Distribution Centre for Courier Guy, at the brand-new King Air Industria (part of the Atterbury Portfolio) premises in Cape Town.
Working with the team from Schoombie Hartmann Quantity Surveyors, DG Consulting Engineers and Abbeydale Cape, CLF installed the internal floor of 8 000m2 and hard stand of 12 200m2.
Internal Floor
The 8 000m2 internal floor was originally planned to be poured in 8 pours, but thanks to the expert collaboration between CLF, Abbeydale Cape and Afrisam (concrete suppliers), it was possible to cast this floor in 4 pours. This significantly saved time on the program for all contractors, as well as reducing costs of construction joints.
Of vital importance to the success of the placing of the floor was the use of the CLF Somero Laser Screed Machine (operated by trained CLF staff). This allowed for the efficient and accurate placing of the concrete, within the tolerance required. Thus, the newly placed concrete was able to achieve the designed level of flatness, which is specified as FM2, based on TR34 4th edition codes.
